History of Godfather’s Pizza

There was a time when Godfather’s Pizza was privately owned by a man named William Theisen.  In 1973, the first Godfathers opened in Omaha, Nebraska.  However, due to its success; William sold the restaurant and its rights to Pillsbury in the mid 80’s.  They are known for allowing their costumers to choose everything they love on a pizza.  Despite being in business for 15 years, it wasn’t until the 90’s that Godfather’s Pizza became famous.  They began airing commercials that featured “The Godfather” and his mafia ways saying quotes such as “I know your neighborhood” and “Do it!”  In fact, “The Godfather” makes periodic visits to each Godfather’s Pizza location for added effect!  Within the last 10 years, Godfather’s expanded their pizza services to offer some of their product in certain Hess Gas Stations; so keep an eye out!

Where you can find Godfather’s Pizza

Even though it originated in Nebraska, Godfather’s did not stay within the central part of the United States.  In fact, you can currently find a Godfather’s Pizza located in 42 different states; excluding Hawaii, Minnesota, and Maine.  They are always expanding, so before long you may find them throughout the entire country.

Godfather’s Pizza Product Review

The location I visited had a buffet style layout.  They made a personal pizza with my choice of ingredients right on the spot, so hot and fresh is a guarantee.  There are plenty of things to do for kids including game rooms for meetings or birthdays.  It’s one of the only pizza buffets that actually has great food that doesn’t taste like it has been living underneath a heat lamp.  I have to say that their monkey bread is phenomenal and worth the try.   This is not a typical chain restaurant as I believe the quality of pizza is much better.
